Electric bikes! (pedaling sucks)

We often hear about electric cars, electric bikes and so other.
The common idea is them being very expensive and not much sport-driving savvy.
The TESLA Roadster killed the second statement, being a Lotus Elise based electric only breathtaking sportcar (I have been on it, trust me).

Still, it`s priced at about 100k usd! It`s for sure worth them but very few people have 100K on they hands right away..

So, to KILL the statemente about EV being too expensive it comes the homemade, very cheap, very funny, very smart solution!

Homemade ebikes!
There is a continuously growing community of people interested in making their very own electric bikes, almost from scratch.
You start from adding a cheap hub-motors to your front wheel then you feel you want more and get bigger motor.
Again, you want even more and look for better batteries and so on....
This makes you gaindous amount of information about Electric Vehicles and have a lot of fun.

After years thinking in a gas-oriented way all those talks and calculations about Ampere, Volts, Cs, Kv and so on can appear scary at first sight but they are not.

Get involved in amazing forums such as http://endless-sphere.com/forums/! You`ll learn faster than you think and, in a long-term point of view, even save money using less gas.

Here, you can see one of the most "famous" ebiker on the Net in action with his 66 mph (!!) bike. He also made an even faster version it!

Check out HERE a LOT of homemade ebikes!

Now, go make your own :)

A spider eating wasp!

Do you hate spiders?! You may love this!
The Tarantula Hawk, a 2 inch long wasp who uses tarantulas as food for its larvae.
Yes, this wasp kills tarantulas (sometimes even fighting with them!), drags them into its nest and puts its larvae into it.
Very, very raw.

More details/footages can be found on Youtube or wikipedia, I don`t wanna get too graphical here :)

Watch! (video is in two part)

White Spider navigates itself in the dark with seismic waves (seems so)

Amazing BBC documentary showing a White lady spider in the night. It has the ability of walking of going more than two hundreds meters (220 yards) far from his "home" and go back in a straight line. Its "navigation sistem" is not yet fully understood, it may be using seismic waves to know his position. (almost) for sure it uses vibrations in the ground to send messages to other spiders.

This video is for sure worth the time it takes for you to watch :-)
